Où mettre du parfum ? Découvrez les points de pulsations

Where to put perfume? Discover the pulse points

Perfumes are a part of our lives. However, questions are flooding the internet. How can I smell perfume all day long? How can I apply perfume safely? Where should I apply perfume? We've written this article to answer them.

In this article, you will discover:

  • The pulse points where to apply your perfume;
  • Why wear perfume?
  • How to wear perfume when you are a man or a woman?

Apply the perfume to your wrist, behind your earlobe, the crease of your elbow, your neck at the interclavicular fossa, and below your knee. We call these pulse points. The temperature in these areas is slightly higher, which helps the perfume open and spread.

Why wear perfume?

Spirits entered our lives much earlier than many of us realize. As early as ancient Egypt, people mixed incense not only for religious purposes, but also for domestic purposes. The sacred significance of fragrances is not surprising.

The ability to smell is important for unconscious processes. The number of human olfactory receptors is estimated at 6 to 10 million. Each person has an individual set of olfactory receptors, so people perceive the same odor differently. Smell also affects attractiveness! In one experiment, participants judged a person of the opposite sex to be more beautiful if they could smell their pheromones. And similarly, people are repelled by unattractive odors—it's genetically designed to prevent poisoning.

Today, we use perfume almost every day. A refined fragrance isn't just about smelling good. It's a way of expressing yourself. It's an extension of yourself that you want to show off. Perfume is how people remember and recognize us. It's like La Petite Madeleine that we let express herself. Perfume is an integral part of our way of functioning, style, wardrobe...

Should you wear perfume every day?

Everyone has their own personal experience with wearing perfume. Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to perfume. Some only wear perfume in the morning before work. Others wear it all day long. For all of this, keep in mind one important principle of etiquette: don't wear your perfume to annoy others. Perfume should make the people around you feel good.
Also, the fragrance shouldn't be felt throughout the room, even if it's very pleasant. Remember that everyone's sense of smell is different. Some people have such a sensitive sense of smell that they can detect the most delicate scents even from a distance.

So, the question of whether you can wear perfume every day is yes. But follow the rules of etiquette. Perfume should only be smelled by people close to you.

How to apply perfume safely

There are also safety rules when it comes to wearing perfume. It's unlikely you'll seriously injure yourself, but it's best to be aware of certain things. So, here's how to wear perfume safely:

  • It is not recommended to apply perfume to white or light-colored clothing. Many perfumes contain pigmented particles. Brands add color to their fragrances to create a unique and interesting scent. For example, it is not uncommon to find a blue or pink perfume. That's why we have chosen not to add dyes to our formulas. It is the very nature of our ingredients that reflects the color. And evening fragrances often include perfume oil. These fragrances can leave a mark on your clothes and ruin things;
  • Don't wear a lot of perfume before a trip on public transportation. This includes if you plan to be in a small room or a basement room that isn't ventilated. A strong scent can make you or someone around you feel uncomfortable. A safe option is to stick to a light perfume, deodorant, or avoid perfume altogether.
  • Perfume on the skin can be dangerous if a person is allergic to any of the ingredients in the composition. If you are using it for the first time and are worried about skin irritation, check the contents. It is better not to take risks and give such perfume to a friend;
  • It's not a good idea to apply a lot of perfume to your hair. Although it's quite common, the alcohol in perfume can dry out your hair. Fortunately, many perfume lines include special perfume hair sprays. These sprays are gentler and won't damage your hair;
  • Don't put perfume on your underwear. Absolutely not. As mentioned, almost all perfumes contain alcohol and other ingredients that can cause discomfort when they come into contact with delicate skin. If you want a special scent on all parts of your body, choose a perfume specifically for intimate areas.

How to smell like perfume all day long?

Any perfume, whether male or female, must be worn with due regard for the rules of perfumery. Why keep your perfume on all day? At the very least, to save money. Applying perfume once a day or 10 times a day will make a big difference. This often happens among perfume lovers. Moreover, when we apply perfume, after a while, we get used to it and no longer smell it. But this does not mean that the scent has disappeared. So how do you know if a perfume lasts on your skin? To know how to use perfume, listen to the experts in the field of perfumery. Have you noticed the differences between "Le parfum," "L'eau de parfum," and "L'eau de toilette" written on your perfume bottles? They are used to indicate the concentration of a perfume in a particular bottle.

  • A perfume, for example, is called an essence or extract and has a fragrance content of 15-30%.
  • Perfumed water has an essence percentage of 10-15%.
  • Eau de toilette is said to be the least concentrated and contains between 8 and 10% perfume.

So if you want to keep your scent on your skin all day, opt for the most concentrated perfume options. When you choose a perfume, you can be sure that it will stay with you for as long as possible. How do you apply perfume so it lasts? Here's a secret. Try applying your perfume not to clean skin but to an area treated with a fragrance-free cream or oil. By making the skin in these areas oily, the scent lasts longer. If you're wondering, "How do I apply perfume properly?" - it's quite simple. Be hygienic, take a shower after exercising, wear clean clothes, and add the most important detail: your favorite perfume.

How long does perfume last on the skin?

The staying power of a fragrance is essentially the ability of a scent to remain on the skin or any other surface. Persistence is one of the fundamental characteristics of a perfume. And while the bouquet of a perfume cannot be measured on a scale (because taste is subjective), experts are keen to measure persistence. Perfume manufacturers test the longevity of fragrances on a piece of cotton cloth. It is placed in a perfumed liquid and left to soak for a certain amount of time. The piece of cloth is then removed with tweezers, and the expert assesses the persistence of the scent. There is no special unit for measuring persistence, and it is simply measured in hours. It is often said that the stronger the concentration, the longer the fragrance will last: a perfume will stay on your skin longer than an eau de toilette or cologne. This is partly true, but there are pitfalls. The longevity of perfumes is strongly influenced by external factors such as body temperature, ambient temperature, and the condition of the skin (dry or moisturized) on which the perfume is applied. On dry skin, the perfume evaporates more quickly, and cold weather makes the perfume last longer.

What are pulse points?

It's no secret: it's recommended to apply perfume to pulse points. These points are located on the wrist, behind the ears, on the neck, in the crease of the elbow, and behind the knee. It's said that the skin is warmer in these areas due to the action of pulsation, helping the fragrance to develop more quickly. Where should you apply your perfume to make it last longer?

For heavy oriental and woody fragrances, a pulse point below the knee is best. This will allow the scent to rise, allowing you to smell it all day long. For light fragrances, the points behind the ears and on the neck are ideal. The scent will accompany your every move.

Why put perfume on your wrist?

Wearing perfume on your wrist is appealing because you can easily smell it throughout the day by simply lifting your hand. A sort of olfactory encounter that begins with the spray. This step stays with us all day and reassures us. In the past, there was a custom: to greet a lady by kissing her hand.
In this way, perfume on the wrist charmed men. Just as at one time the glover's profession joined that of the perfumer. The gloves were scented. A whole olfactory poetry. However, this method has a drawback. If you like to wear bracelets, it is better to choose other points to apply the perfume. Metal objects can significantly distort the scent, and they can also be darkened by the alcohol contained in the perfume. This is what we have noticed.

Where to put perfume?

What are the differences between men and women in the rules for wearing perfume? We might imagine that this is an individual matter and that everyone chooses for themselves. However, there are still some recommendations that are based on the preferences of the opposite gender.

For men

We've noticed, for example, that women say they like perfume on men's necks and chests. This is quite logical, since men can wear a shirt with the top buttons undone. The biggest mistake young men make is wearing too much perfume. If you don't want to overdo it, one, two, or three spritzes will suffice.

For women

Men, on the other hand, believe that the most "feminine" areas for perfume are the hair and ankles. Coco Chanel reiterated that perfume should be applied "where you want to be kissed."

How to keep a perfume smelling?

It is difficult to predict how long the perfume will last. To prolong its effect, you can use the following tips:

  • Moisturize your skin before applying perfume! Moisturized skin will help the scent last longer, for 3-4 hours. It's no wonder brands have started creating fragrance lines that include hair mists, body lotions, and deodorants. All of these products help make the scent last all day; for now, we offer scented soaps related to eau de parfum. Very gentle, moisturizing, and nourishing for the skin, they will greatly extend the scent's longevity.
  • Do not rub on the perfume after applying it. This will not alter the fragrance or seriously affect its composition, but the heat will cause the alcohol to evaporate more quickly. This will reduce the longevity of the perfume; we all do this in stores when trying on a fragrance, yet it can limit its diffusion.
  • Sometimes, the longevity of a perfume depends not only on its proper application, but also on its ingredients. Sweet, powdery, musky, and woody fragrances are considered the most long-lasting. Floral, fruity, and aquatic fragrances tend to fade more quickly.

Where to store your perfume?

To prolong the life of your perfume, it is best to follow these rules:

  • Perfume bottles can be stored in a dark place, away from direct sunlight. Negative radiation destroys the molecular structure of perfume ingredients;
  • Humidity should be monitored, as well as the temperature of the room where the perfume is stored. Ideal conditions: a room temperature of 16 to 22 degrees and low humidity. A bathroom is not a good place to store your perfume collection;
  • Something we often lose: the cap. Remember to add a perfume cap to keep air out. If you're using a regular bottle without a spray, make sure the cap is always tightly closed.

Does perfume fear the cold?

There's a myth that perfume should be stored in the refrigerator. But experts agree this is a bad idea. The refrigerator temperature is usually too cold, and the constant movement of the bottle creates a difference that is detrimental to the perfume.
